The Vinyl Listening Room

From February 14, 2025, on the second floor of the library.

Vinyl offers something unique: a tangible experience. It’s not just music—it’s a ritual. Choosing a record, sliding it out of its sleeve, gently placing it on the turntable, lowering the needle—every gesture is filled with intention. The familiar crackle at the start, the warm sound that fills the space, and the physical feel of the record in your hands all enhance an experience that goes beyond just the notes. In an increasingly digital and intangible world, vinyl reminds us of the value of touch, of time well spent, of an authentic connection with what surrounds us.

The Vinyl Listening Room is a space designed to promote recorded music as a form of art, encourage the exploration of musical tradition, highlight the value of our discographic heritage, and celebrate the time dedicated to listening. It is designed to deliver the highest sound quality, thanks to professional acoustic treatment and a high-end Hi-Fi system. Open to all, it welcomes enthusiasts, curious visitors, and researchers, inviting them to explore a wide collection of vinyl records in their original listening format.

The room was created thanks to the generous donation of the Santonastaso family's vinyl collection, particularly that of brothers Carlo and Mario.

Located on the second floor of the library, the room is accessible by reservation only.
