The Atse Tewodros Project is an initiative, coordinated by writer and performer Gabriella Ghermandi, that forges music between Ethiopian and Italian tradition. This project takes as its symbol Emperor Tewodros, a man who was not of imperial lineage, but still managed to gain the throne through willpower and charisma, breaking with centuries of custom. He was the first Emperor who gave Ethiopia the chance to modernize while respecting its traditions. In a similar way, the Atse Tewodros Project intends to respect traditional Ethiopian music while opening it up to dialogue and exchange.
Pure Rapture is one of the songs co-written with Ezra (Casino Royale, Dub Pigeons, Bratski Krug) for Suz's last album Lacework, released by Irma Records. The song (whose working title was Groove Messiahs) was born following two insights: the vision of the creators / producers of music as modern pipers of Hamelin and that of music as an inner elevation instrument.
Flush is the first selected single from POPISM, second album work by Italian band Earthset. The song describes a circumstance where the protagonist discovers and accepts, by breaking her routine, a hidden, and to a certain extent disowned, part of herself. Between wakefulness and dreamy atmospheres, the song's unrest is resolved in the finale, where the two souls are reunited like rejoined lovers.
The video represents Giungla’s journey, aka Emanuela Drei, in the US. Armed only with her drum machine, a guitar and her voice, she has quickly made a name for herself on the international scene with her visceral and breath-taking live performances.
“No value is attributed to Sherpas, they go unnoticed in the light of day". The video is presented as a tribute to the Sherpas, tireless mountain guides and men whose spirit is noble. For the band, they represent the metaphor of life.
