The Accademia degli Astrusi is an outstanding baroque ensemble playing original instruments, and was founded in 2007 in Bologna by M° Federico Ferri.
The Accademia has been leading for years a project focused on rediscovering the instrumental opera omnia by Giovanni Battista Martini, which is for a large part unreleased despite the great importance of Martini’s music. These rediscovered minor masterpieces are made available both in CD and in the critical edition by Federico Ferri and Daniele Proni, published by Suvini-Zerboni.
The Astrusi orchestra performed in many different and prestigious international venues, such as Wigmore Hall in London, live with BBC, Konzerhaus in Berlin, La Monnaie in Brussels, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid and Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, live with RaiRadio3. In 2015 they won the International Opera Awards in London with the double CD Semiramide-La Signora Regale, issued by Sony.
