A breath of multiculturalism, vivacity and innovation has flood Bologna, that had the honor of guest the Annual Meeting of UNESCO Creative Cities 2013, from 18th to 21st September.
City administrators and officials from 29 cities all over the world met up in Bologna to discuss about ongoing and future activities of the Network.
Two plenary sessions took place in the great background of Stabat Mater of Archiginnasio, where the delegations of different cities talked about the central themes of discussion.
During the days of 19th and 20th, separate thematic meetings were organized to permit the guests to deal with specific aspects related to the 6 categories represented from the city who participated (Music, Design, Literature, Film, Folk Art and Gastronomy). Participants had the opportunity to have a confrontation with the other cities of their same category, and they entered in touch with different “creative” contexts of the local area.
On the occasion of this international meeting, Bologna as “Creative City of Music” hosted a few events open to the public, like a concert by Cristina Zavalloni, a Bolognese emerging singer and composer, who performed on Thursday 19 September at the Unipol Auditorium.
A relevant performance was the one of Bart Maris, Belgian trumpet player, who welcomed the delegations of the different cities since the first hours of the Meeting, filling up the air of the City Hall Courtyard with the notes of his beautiful performance.  The artist of Gent, creative city of music as Bologna, proposed a particular show, the title was “City Soundloops”, where old tape machines served as self-conducted orchestra for the trumpet solos of the artist. The performance, replied three times, has been very successful.
In conclusion, the last day was totally dedicated to a B2B session is scheduled, for operators only, to favour meetings and exchange between creative subjects from Bologna and from the other 33 member cities of the network.
It was a wonderful experience, Bologna sends a warm thanksgiving to all the participants and to each person who gave a  contribution to get this international Meeting very successful.
