“The Kilowatt Hour: Mathieu/Sylvian/Fennesz”, the exclusive live performance scheduled on Tuesday 24th September at Teatro Comunale (the Opera House) of Bologna, is opening the sixth edition of roBOt, the international Festival dedicated to electronic music and digital arts, conceived and promoted by the cultural association Shape.
Meeting David Sylvian’s art and charisma is a unique experience. It’s not surprising that the wide-spread cult surrounding him, ever since his beginning as the vocalist of the “Japan” in the second half of the 70’s, is still alive today.
“The Kilowatt Hour” is the latest work in his bright career, and stems from the collaboration of the Austrian Christian Fennesz and German Stephan Mathieu, the other two partners of the project, both world-famous figures in the field of the most cultured and experimental contemporary electronic music.
The preview-concert is perfectly matching the theme of this roBOt edition, i.e. #digital vertigo, and offers the public one of the biggest possible events as expressions of interplay, contamination between analogic and digital elements, mix and exchanges between melody, experimentation, destructuration.
