On January 23, 2019, a new cycle of meetings on music entrepreneurship have got started: Il Mercato della Musica (The Music Market), a seminar for young musicians and operators who wish to work in the field of music, is back for 5 Wednesdays until February 20.
The best professionals in the mainstream and independent record industry are leading the audience through the understanding of the know-how to create and run a project. The initiative is indeed aimed at providing the necessary strategic knowledge to start up a new business activity in the music field, giving an outline but also an in-depth analysis of the various aspects and contexts of the music entrepreneurship.
The meetings are held respectively by the music reviewer and expert in the record industry Pierfrancesco Pacoda, and the music journalists Salvatore Papa and Susanna la Polla.
In January, Pierfrancesco Pacoda has held, together Gianni Sibilla, director of the Master degree in Music communication at Università Cattolica in Milan, a meeting on the music industry as it works today; and together with the Bolognese sound engineer Maurizio Biancani, who is also managing partner at Fonoprint studios, a meeting on the subject of sound proofing in the recording studios, strengths and weaknesses of digital and analogical systems and instrument wiring in the studio.
On February 6, the Bolognese Alessandro Ceccarelli, from BPM Concerti (music concert booking & promotion agency) and Salvatore Papa is holding a meeting on live music and the different phases of a concert – from the project to the booking, the promotion and the relationship with promoters and clubs.
On February 13, one more meeting held by Salvatore Papa about live music: with Stefano Pieroni, Coo Vertigo, to talk about how to run a business that deals with music events – from the responsibilities to the hazards connected to it.
Last meeting scheduled on February 20: Susanna La Polla will debate with Nur Al Habash, chief of the Italia Music Export office at SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers), about the activities of this office, the SIAE project for internationalization, and the necessary instruments to promote a music product abroad.
All the meetings are held between 5 and 7.30 p.m. at the International Museum and Library of Music. Entry open and free while seats last (no reservations).
The meetings are organized by the new Music Office at Comune di Bologna, in cooperation with the Institution Istituzione Bologna Musei and Bologna Welcome, the Convention & Visitor Bureau of the City of Bologna.
