Exclusive tour preview at Estragon club
The JoyCut, Bologna’s very own band, are about to kick off the U.S. and Canadian leg of their “PiecesOfUs” tour, from February 26th until April 6th. Among over 30 different tour dates across America, they are scheduled to perform at the acclaimed SXSW Festival in Austin, TX.
SXSW represents an important opportunity for emerging bands from all over the world and a springboard for JoyCut to the international scene.
Besides the showcase of the Festival, the band will also perform on March 12 at the International Day Stage, the inner circle where the performing bands are selected among the most interesting in the world.
MtvIggy, the MTV website dedicated to the most promising artists on the world music scene, has marked them as one of the 10 unmissable acts of this section of SXSW.
Before leaving for North America, the band is giving an exclusive free preview of their tour on Saturday 8th at Estragon club. The band – with the help of “Bici Senza Frontiere” – is also hosting the first urban cyclist contest ever, turning their show into a real “night ride”. The first 100 people to get to the venue on their bycicle, will get to carry it inside and enjoy the show while on their vehicle. The first 30 will also receive a gift.
Their third work “PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround” was released on September 2013 by the local record label IRMA Records, and was recorded between Bologna, New York and Düsseldorf. The album is a “instrumental hybrid of moogs, electro, real acousmatic and powerful industrial tribal-ness”.
Described by experts as “the ultimate EcoWave band”, the JoyCut have always been big on environmental issues. For example, they decided to record their previous project at The Premises Studio in London, the first European recording studio ever to be entirely powered by solar energy. In 2010, they performend at CO2penhagen Festival, the first to be powered by renewable resources. Also, their cd’s packaging are made of recycled paper, water-based ink, plant-based glue and biophan. Their t-shirts are made of organic cotton and are printed with water-based ink.
