“In the year of … musicians talk about musicians” is a musical narratives Festival running from March 5 -June 11, 2016 where real musicians talk about music in words and music, inspired by the musical anniversaries of the year.
To celebrate the 9th centenary of the Commune of Bologna, the Museum offers a special programme with concerts, musical narratives and guided tours dedicated to the music for the Bentivoglio family, to Petrucci, Odhecaton, and Piccinini; from the Bolognese lute school, to the great Neapolitans Porpora and Paisiello up to Giaquinto and Farinelli. However, 2016 is also the year of Satie, Gilels and Busoni, Cervantes and Quixote, as well as of the Barber of Seville and the editions of the madrigals of Gesualdo, preserved in the Museum of Music.

THE BEST OF is the Festival of musical workshops and performances for children and their parents, to spend the weekend together playing, learning and having fun with music. The first part of the Festival (Jan. 31 -Jun. 4, 2016) will focus on the harp.
The record label “a Simple Lunch” in collaboration with the International Museum and Library of Music presents Music Talk, a series of concerts and public talks running from February 28 to April 24, 2016.
Each concert will be followed by a meeting with the musicians. It’s a rare opportunity to meet the performers and talk to them not only about music issues. Free entry subject to availability.
