On Thursday 26 October 2017, Bologna will host classical guitarist Marko Topchii, winner of the 3rd International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini – Concorso Chitarristico Internazionale Maurizio Biasini – cciMB (San Francisco, USA, 14 – 17 January 2016).
Organized by the Musical Association Conoscere la Musica – Mario Pellegrini, the solo recital is part of the Autunno 2017 Concerts series and takes place in the beautiful Mozart Hall of the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna (Via Guerrazzi, 13).
The programme, ranging from Renaissance to contemporary repertoire, includes music by John Dowland, Antonio José, Agustín Barrios, Alexandre Tansman, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Joaquín Rodrigo and Nikita Koshkin.
Third time lucky after reaching the semifinal in Bologna in 2011 and winning third prize ex-aequo at the second edition in Basel in 2013, the 26-year-old guitarist from Ukraine deservedly claimed first prize in San Francisco, winning a huge prize and solo recital opportunities in Bologna, Basel and Paris. He has since won eight additional first prize awards at international guitar competitions, most recently at the 50st edition of the prestigious Michele Pittaluga International Classical Guitar Competition -Premio Città di Alessandria, Italy (25 – 30 September 2017).
In 2018, the biennial cciMB competition will return to Europe for its fourth edition to be held in Paris at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Regional de Paris – CRR from April 27 to May 2, 2018 (registration until 10 November 2017).
