Are you excellent musicians but do not have a clue about the music market and how it works? You have no idea on how you could finance your project, find sponsors and make it sustainable over time? Do you really know how to promote yourselves in the huge and stormy music market?
Bologna Unesco City of Music in conjunction with Incredibol! (INnovation CREativity DIrectly from BOLogna) will hold in October at the International museum and library of music of Bologna four events aimed at young musicians and professionals of the music sector to promote new businesses and to foster managerial skills.
All the meetings will be moderated by Pierfrancesco Pacoda, a music critic and expert of the record industry, and attended by consultants and specialized professionals.
Please find below the detailed list of the four meetings:
Tuesday October 10: Making music today. With Pierfrancesco Pacoda, music critic, and Gianni Cottafavi, responsible for the project of a new regional law on the musical sector.
The first introductory meeting will be devoted to the record market and its changes in the digital era, ranging from independent discography to self-productions. Other discussed issues will be: the role of record companies, new music businesses and relations with companies in general.
Thursday October 12: Managing a record company. With Marco Gallorini from Woodworm Records, featuring artists like, among others, Fast Animals and Slow Kids, Paolo Benvegnù, Angela Baraldi, Motta.
The second event will be focussed on record companies, namely aspects like artistic direction, marketing, promotion, concert organization will be dealt with. And also: how to start a business. From talent scouting to the final product.
Tuesday October 17. SIAE (Italian copyright collection agency) and related rights. With Massimo Benini, member of the national music commission of the SIAE and President of Evolution, company collecting related rights and Raffaella Pellegrino, lawyer.
The third meeting will be devoted to rights. How to manage and make the rights resulting from record playing profitable, what are record editions, how does the SIAE work and which are the chances for young music businesses.
Thursday October 19. Live performances. With Luca Bernini and Michele Annechini from the Gibilterra management agency featuring artists like Vinicio Capossela, Baustelle, le Luci della Centrale Elettrica.
The last meeting will focus on music live performances. What is a management agency, how is it to organize a music festival, which are the specific duties and obligations for artists and for event organizers, the showcases, the relations with possible sponsors.
The meetings will be held from 17.00 until 19.30 in the Sala Eventi room of the International museum and library of music of Bologna, Strada Maggiore 34.
Free entry until seats are available.
The goal is to provide participants with a kit of basic tools likely to let them start a professional business in the music sector, which could grow and be economically sustainable.
Another goal is to improve knowledge and awareness of the available tools to properly manage music products, works and events.
