The city of Budrio, near Bologna, is the international capital of Ocarina and is hosting the 10th edition of the International Budrio Ocarina Festival, taking place from 25th to 28th April 2019. A great event dedicated to sounds and colours of the Ocarina instrument, with many guests, musicians and ocarina makers, coming from all around the world.
The festival, promoted by the City of Budrio, includes concerts, street music animation, exhibitions and a lot more. Budrio is then becoming the capital city of a small population of ocarina artists and lovers, who every two years make a sort of pilgrimage to go back to the ocarina homeland, to meet players and makers coming from other parts of the world, but most of all to play all together.
For the 10th edition, the concerts will be also held in Bologna, Bentivoglio, Castenaso and Granarolo dell’Emilia.
The festival starts on April 25 from the centre of Budrio, with plenty of joyful buskers since the morning, and an opening concert in the central square to follow in the afternoon, when Ocarina players coming as far as from Taiwan will also perform. To end the day, the night coincert in the Museo della civiltà contadina (Museum of Peasant Farming culture) in Bentivoglio.
The programme of the 4 days’ festival is very rich with events and music performances, including two concerts in the very city centre of Bologna, on Friday 26th April, at 10.30: the one in Piazza del Nettuno (Neptune Square) and the other in the little Piazza dei Celestini (not far from the central square), where several bands and chorus from Taiwan, Japan, Austria will perform, as wel ass local and national ensembles.
