The 23rd of June the Quadriclavio Chorale left for Germany in order to perform, along with the Leipzig Opera Choir and the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the “Messa da Requiem” of Giuseppe Verdi at the Opera Theater.
If the Chorale had to choose a word to describe their trip, it would be “emotion”. The Verdi Requiem is a masterpiece and, even if they had already performed it several times during concerts, it had an intensity capable of captivate not only musical skills, but also the very essence of the mind and the awareness of each one of us in front of the mystery of death.
The rehearsals of the Choir with Director Alessandro Zuppardo conserved the same rigor and the same high stylistic traits of the ones conducted by him in Bologna, but performing them along with the Leipzig Opera Choir seemed like amplifying everything, also thanks to the their friendly welcome.
The performance that Director Anthony Bramall was able to bring out from the Orchestra and from the Choir, the deeply human beauty of Verdi’s Music plus the power of the musicians and the excellence of their performance practice are an unforgettable memory, such as the fact that the biggest part of the final ovation of the hall, which was full of audience, was dedicated to the Choir.
