Every two years the city of Budrio becomes the international capital city of Ocarina: from April 27th to May 1st this small town in the Po valley is hosting the IX International Ocarina Festival, an event with many guests, musicians, manufacturers from all over the world dedicated to the typical terracotta wind instrument.
Many the initiatives scheduled: during five days Budrio is gathering artists and wandering aficionados to see the places of origin of the ocarina, to meet the players of the instrument that come from other places of the world, but mostly to play together.
A special appointment will take place in Bologna right after the preludes on Wednsday 26th with the Japanese Satoshi Osawa Quartet at Cantina Bentivoglio and on Thursday 27th in occasion of the concert for ocarinas and string quartet at the Foyer of Teatro Comunale.
On Sunday April 30th , meeting point in front of the Church of Santa Sofia by the Arch of Meloncello at 9.30am, the musicians will walk up through the porticos to San Luca playing the ocarina. After an introduction by Rolando Dondarini, the artists coming from Taiwan, China, Japan, South Corea, USA and Italy will perform in front of the 15 chapels of the Mysteries of the Rosary under the Rosario led by Angela Malfitano.
Big finale at 11 a.m. in front of the Sanctuary with a performance played by all the ensembles together.
