BEST – La cultura si fa spazio (Culture rises from the ranks) is the new summer calendar coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna. Running from 15 June to 15 September 2017 it turns on the evenings in the city.
Designed for different audiences, it is articulated in a balanced way between downtown and suburbs, incorporating site-specific projects and consolidated events. Let’s find out the most important music festivals.
Under ZamBest – Summer in Zamboni, from 15 June to 15 September, Piazza Scaravilli, Cortile di Ercole and Cortile del Pozzo (both at Palazzo Poggi) are the scenarios of initiatives ranging from reading texts to small shows, from Concerts to meetings and workshops. Most of the initiatives will focus on the culture of the 70s.
The programme in the area is completed with the dates at the Municipal Theater (and its terrace), the events of Botanique (16 June – 22 July), and the Salotto del Jazz (June 13 – July 27), a popular alive music festival promoted by Cantina Bentivoglio in via Mascarella.
The Conservatory GB Martini will contribute with on-site performances as well as other Summer festivals.
Montagnola Summer 2017: From July 14 to August 7, ten dates featuring prominent jazz performers such as the legendary Johnny O’Neal trio on July 20th, Do Taufic on July 23 and Scott Hamilton on August 4th.
Baraccano SUMMER NOTES – JAZZ & MORE Festival from June 15-18 and the musical theater from 1 August to 4 September: the calendar highlights the ductility of this genre that is expressed through the contamination of music with other expressive languages: manga comics will enter the Opera “Il Barbiere a fumetti”, the singing chanted in “Il Don Giovanni”, the traditional opera song in “Quel fragoroso silenzio”, theater and music together in La Barca di Venezia per Padova , and the “Concerto Dialogato”, “Follia” and “Parlando d’amore”.
Villa Angeletti’s Magdaclan Tent will host the company’s performances and some works of the summer musical festival of the Bernstein School of Musical Theater‘s (June 29 – July 2): “Assassins”, Stephen Sondheim’s small masterpiece, “Bernarda Alba”, musical resuming the atmosphere of the drama”La Barca di Venezia per Padova The House of Bernarda Alba” by Federico García Lorca and “Face of Strawberry”, a show for the the youngest.
(S)nodi – dove le musiche si incrociano – the “unusual music” festival scheduled on all summer Tuesdays from July to September – except for 15 August – at the Library and International Museum of Music – from 18 July to 12 September.
On August 2nd, the traditional concert for the 2nd August Composition Competition, this year dedicated to accordion, saxophone, trombone and orchestra.
The Archiginnasio Courtyard will host the fifth edition of Pianofortissimo. From 20th June to 6th July International Piano Festival will gather many soul lovers enthusiasts.
La musica che gira intorno, a cura di Fonoprint
Dj set and live to tell Bologna through music: until September 6, Fonoprint brings music to unusual and very significant places in the city, such as Trattoria Da Vito, Vasco Rossi private studio, Orea Malià hairdresser, record store Semm in via Oberdan and the Liceo Musicale Lucio Dalla.
L’eco della prima collina The show with music, pictures and other surprises in the Villa Ghigi Park until the 15th of September.
L’aria del Parco, from 29 June to 18 July, by the Orchestra Senzaspine (Mercato Sonato), to rediscover the most significant pages of Puccini, Verdi, Donizetti and Rossini in four gardens of the city (June 29 | Giardino Benjamin Moloise) – (July 6 | Giardino Gino Cervi) – (July 13 | Parco San Donnino) – (July 18 | Parco Pier Paolo Pasolini).
On Thursday, June 29, at 9.15 pm Fondazione Musica Insieme for Giardini at CUBO 2017 will open thje Festival Il sapore della Musica (The taste of music). The festival explores the affinities between two apparently distant worlds such as music and food.
The most important Italian food historian Massimo Montanar will interview four of the most celebrated chefs. The star of the first evening will be Carlo Cracco who will cook with the most famous melodies of Italian melodrama, signed Rossini, Verdi, Donizetti, Puccini.
